Abstract

This chapter focuses on the first two phases of the acquisition process—building the business and acquisition plans—and on tools commonly used to evaluate, display, and communicate information to key constituencies both inside (e.g., board of directors, management, and employees) and outside (e.g., customers, stockholders, lenders) of the corporation. Business strategies drive investment by identifying where the firm's board and management want to take the firm and why.
