“That’s fascinating!” said Conrad Hall, sitting in an ancient desk chair in the basement of the entrepreneur’s home, where the business was operated. But just as he was about to ask another question, the telephone began ringing.

“Ignore it,” said the entrepreneur, waving at the phone dismissively. “It’ll stop in a minute.”

Sure enough, the ringing stopped, and Hall continued his questioning. But almost immediately the phone interrupted him again.

“Go ahead,” said Hall. “Answer the phone. I don’t mind. You need to run your business.”

“Hhmph!” said the probably 60-year-old entrepreneur. “No, go on. If I answer it, it’ll just start ringing again.”

A bit surprised, Hall continued, and then the phone started ringing ...
