Preface

Traditional e-learning is a term that makes me wince. Although it's true that I've been exploring what we now call e-learning for over forty years now, use of computing technology for teaching and learning continues to be an experiment and exploration in my mind. There is no better support for this perspective than the fascinating collection of papers you are now holding in your hands.

As I continue to strive for greater levels of controversy in each subsequent Annual, along with a complementary collection of wise perspectives, I marvel at how the number of debates in our field increases over time. It is clear that we have a lot yet to learn about how to use technology most effectively.
