Abstract

Complicated interactions of organisms with surrounding environments have been observed in natural systems. Such interactions serve as a key to understanding natural bio-locomotion and developing bio-inspired microrobots. While organisms migrate, ambient stimuli induce the organisms to modify their behaviors, resulting in quite different performances in response to a collection of external chemical and physical cues like attractants, toxins, touch, and fluid forces.
