Introduction to Maple

2.1 Introduction

In the course of the following chapters, we will derive and solve some of the most fundamental equations in microfluidics and fluid physics. It seems reasonable to use a suitable Algebra package, e.g., for visualizing the results and solutions to the equations found. In many ways, this allows us to get a better feel for the effects that these equations describe.

In this section, we will briefly look at some of the most important functions that Maple provides for us. If the reader already has some understanding of how these Algebra packages work, it may be worth skipping this section.
