Copying and pasting in a word processing program is one of the first things beginner students do in class—not only is it a seemingly simple thing to learn and to practice, but it is so darn useful. We reuse content all the time, and for quick on-the-spot decisions, copying and pasting chunks of content is an easy solution.
It's so popular that these commands get the most prime real estate in the Microsoft Word user interface—that is, they are in the very first group on the very first tab on the ribbon:
