Microsoft completely manages its services in Azure from the disaster-recovery point of view. This means that in case of hardware failure or in case of events not dependent on the application surface, Microsoft takes care of the process of recovering data. All these activities should be definitely transparent to the user. However, as accountable developers, we should take care of the backup in terms of application recovery. In addition, while dealing with large-scale applications, it is very important to think about the most efficient strategies to protect our solution from accidental data loss and to provide the entire system a fast and robust way to recover to a consistent state.
