One of my many joys in working as a Microsoft Azure solutions consultant is watching my customers’ faces when they discover the power and agility of Azure Platform as a Service (PaaS) resources; Azure App Service is chief among them.
Azure App Service frees you up to focus on your line-of-business applications instead of managing VM infrastructure. App Service provides hyperscale and seamlessly integrates with other Azure products like storage accounts and Azure SQL Database databases.
By the end of this chapter, you’ll understand App Service’s place in the Azure product portfolio. You’ll also be comfortable creating and configuring App Service web apps. Particular programming languages are beyond the scope of this book, of course, so I focus on the hows and whys of App Service and leave the code base to you and your team.
