So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Chapter 7Azure Compute
This chapter focuses on infrastructure compute services—VMs, primarily, but also some of the other key compute services—to ensure that you are aware of the options available. While the IaaS functionality in Azure is very rich, it should not be considered “first choice” in many scenarios; instead, PaaS should be examined as a possible compute solution. By having knowledge of the possible options, you can make the right architectural decisions, although the focus of this chapter will be around the IaaS solutions.
In this chapter, you will learn to:
- Architect the right VM-based solution.
- Understand the role of containers and container services.
- Explain other types of PaaS solutions available in Azure.
