Autofiltering has been in Excel for a decade, but it received a makeover in Excel 2007. The autofilter drop-downs allow you to multiselect values and offer smart filters. The elusive Filter by Selection feature allows you to invoke filters even faster than before.
The Advanced Filter command continues to be available and is as complicated as ever. The hope is that with the excellent improvements to autofiltering and the addition of duplicate handling, you will never have to turn to Advanced Filter.
