Math & Trig Functions
Excel's math and trig functions perform standard mathematical and trigonometric calculations. On the next few pages, I tell you about the most commonly used ones, starting with one so popular it even has its own toolbar button: SUM.
The SUM function
The SUM function (Figure 5) adds up numbers. It uses the following syntax:
SUM(number1,number2,…)
Although the SUM function can accept up to 30 arguments separated by commas, only one is required.
To use the AutoSum button
1. | Select the cell below the column or to the right of the row of numbers you want to add. |
