Financial Functions

Excel's financial functions enable you to calculate depreciation, evaluate investment opportunities, or calculate the monthly payments on a loan. On the next few pages, I tell you about a few of the functions I think you'll find useful.

The SLN function

The SLN function (Figure 51) calculates straight line depreciation for an asset. It uses the following syntax:

SLN(cost,salvage,life)
