Query-based Distribution Groups

In addition to the improvements in ESM, other enhancements have been made to Exchange 2003 that also increase administrator productivity. One such enhancement is Query-based Distribution Groups (QDGs). QDGs provide the same functionality as standard Active Directory distribution groups. Distribution groups are mail-enabled Active Directory objects that contain one or more other objects (members). In contrast with security groups, which are used to set permissions, distribution groups are used to send e-mail to multiple recipients (the group).
