Exchange 2010 Editions and Licensing
An area that is often underestimated but also important when planning your Exchange server deployments is which editions of Exchange Server 2010 you will use and what type of licenses you will buy for your users. This topic is especially important because planning thoroughly can save you money.

However, in Exchange 2010 you can also purchase an Exchange 2010 External Connector License, which allows an unlimited number of clients to access an Exchange server in scenarios where the number of CALs is uncertain. This type is limited to non-employees such as partners or suppliers.
