Unique database names

Because databases are no longer tied to servers, it follows that database names are now unique in Exchange 2010. The old default database names assigned by legacy versions of Exchange (such as “First Mailbox Database”) that are the same on all servers (unless you rename the databases) are replaced by a naming scheme that assigns unique visible names to databases. The naming convention that generates uniqueness creates names such as Mailbox Database 1236069237. Although these names are certainly unique, they are difficult to remember and to use to reference databases from EMS.
