Hybrid operations, migration, and coexistence
Office 365 is like many other products in that it has its own vocabulary that you must master as part of the deployment process. In Microsoft parlance, a hybrid deployment is one in which you maintain your own on-premises servers and link them to Office 365. You can mix and match Office 365 products in a hybrid deployment; for example, you could have an on-premises Exchange deployment and a hybrid Lync deployment within the same organization.
