Over the last 16 years, the adoption of Microsoft Exchange Server, which began in earnest with Exchange 5.5, has expanded dramatically. In the beginning, email was not a critical service for all organizations, and web access and email were sometimes reserved for those at higher levels in the organization who were trusted not to misuse it.
