One of your primary responsibilities as a Web administrator might be to log access to your company’s Internet servers. As you’ll see in this chapter, enabling logging on Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), File Transfer Protocol (FTP), and Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) servers isn’t very difficult. What is difficult, however, is gathering the correct access information and recording this information in the proper format so that it can be read and analyzed.
