Memory

IIS 7.0 attempts to cache the application content in memory after the initial client request. This behavior decreases the response time for additional requests, because the server does not read the information from disk again. Increasing the memory capacity of the server to allow caching of more data can improve server performance.

Use the application characterization information recorded in Step 2 as a baseline for determining the amount of RAM for servers supporting the IIS 7.0 infrastructure.

Note   Because of limitations on the amount of physical RAM that a 32-bit system can reference, it may be beneficial to run IIS 7.0 on a 64-bit hardware and operating system.
