Managing the Lync Server services is fortunately about the extent of administration involved with a Mediation Server after it’s installed and configured. However, Enterprise Voice requires a fair bit more administration. The Mediation Server is just a supporting role of Enterprise Voice; for details on how to manage Enterprise Voice features, see Chapter 18, “Advanced Lync Voice Configuration.”

Administrators can start, stop, or drain the Mediation Server services either from the Lync Server Control Panel or from the Lync Server Management Shell.
