Performing a Gap Analysis

A gap analysis is a process that should be performed on all projects, regardless of size. The concept of a gap analysis is to review, in detail, the requirements of what the project is designed to deliver and the current plan of action. For example, in the case of Litware, Inc. and the solution that is being delivered using Office Communications Server, the original primary requirements were:

  • Retire the legacy PBXs and replace those with VoIP

  • Implement collaboration offered through Web Conferencing with federated business partners (for example, whiteboard use for product discussions, document sharing, and presentations)

  • Give workers multiple ways to communicate when travelling or when otherwise away from the office
