Planning the Upgrade
Because of the length of time your SharePoint Portal Server Web sites will be unavailable and the risk that the upgrade process might take longer than expected or that some portal sites might need some rework after upgrade, it is critical that the your organization plan the upgrade process and communicate this plan with site owners and users so that they know what to expect during the process. In a large organization, you will be only one of a team of people involved in this project.
