Working with an Existing Document

Unless you always create short documents—letters, memos, and so on—you’ll often need to continue working on a document that you started but didn’t complete in an earlier session. Simply open the saved document, add more text, and then save and close the document again.

Open a Document

  1. Start Word if it isn’t already running, and click the Office button to open the Office menu.

  2. If the document you want to use is listed, click it to open it, and then skip to step 6.

  3. If the document isn’t listed, click Open.
