Indenting a Paragraph
An indent is the distance a paragraph or a first line is moved in from the left and/or right margin. Indenting a paragraph sets it off from other paragraphs. The indent can be as simple as slightly indenting the first line to indicate the start of a new paragraph, or as complex as indenting both the left and right sides of the paragraph to create a separate block of text.
