PerformancePoint is really made up of two server applications: the Monitoring and Analysis application with its dashboards, scorecards, and analytic charts/grids (which are discussed in this chapter), and the Planning application, which is a unique budgeting and forecasting application. Together, the applications are presented in Microsoft literature as a single platform that supports the monitoring, analysis, and planning processes of organizations that are using business intelligence to both measure and project performance. The acronym "MAP" is sometimes used to headline these discussions.
