- Open a new Excel workbook and select Connect to Data from the Power BI tab (Power BI Publisher for Excel).
- Choose the Power BI workspace and dataset to be used as the source for the Excel report.
- Click Connect and a blank pivot table will be created with the field list exposed on the right.
- Create and format a pivot table. Apply a slicer based on a dynamic date column, such as current year.
- Create additional slicers, such as Sales Territory Country = Australia:
- To create a slicer, right-click a column in the field list and select Add as Slicer
Using slicers rather than the filters field well for pivot tables allows for a better presentation on the dashboard tile.
