Glossary
- activity:
- Also known as task, an individual step performed to reach a project’s goal.
- actual:
- Final reporting data for a task, such as the date when the task really started versus its planned start date or the amount of work completed versus the planned amount of work.
- ACWP (actual cost of work performed):
- Cost of the actual, real work done on a task, work package, or project to date.
- ALAP (as late as possible):
- A constraint put on a task’s timing to make the task occur as late as possible in the project schedule, taking into account any dependency relationships.
- analogous estimate:
- An estimating method that uses information from past similar projects and tailors it for the current project estimates.
- ASAP (as soon as possible):
- A constraint put on a task’s timing to make the task occur as early as possible in the project schedule, taking into account any dependency relationships. This is the default constraint type.
- auto scheduled:
- A task mode where Project calculates the schedule as needed based on task dependencies, constraints, calendars, and resource availability.
- BAC (budget at completion):
- The sum total of all costs involved in completing a task, work package, or project. See also baseline cost.
- Backstage view:
- The area that presents files and options when you click the File tab on the Ribbon.
- baseline:
- The formally agreed-upon dates for start, finish, duration, work, and cost data in the project. Later, actual schedule and duration, work, and cost data ...
