Lesson 4Set Up the Project and Tasks
With your project charter, requirements, and scope established, you're now ready to lay out your project plan. This lesson sees you starting a new project plan in Microsoft Project, entering and sequencing the project tasks, and establishing the outline structure of your task list.
Start a New Project Plan
You can choose from one of three good ways to start a new project plan:
- Create a new blank project. Starting from scratch gives you a clean slate and control for building the project to reflect your vision.
- Copy an existing similar project. This can give you a head start in brainstorming the tasks needed and how they relate to one another, especially if the other project was done within your organization.
- Use a template that reflects your project type. This can help you determine which tasks and task relationships apply to your project and also can highlight industry best practices.
