Although Windows Workflow Foundation (WF) is one of the most important technologies included in the .NET Framework, it hasn’t quite hit the prime time in terms of developer adoption, because it requires a whole load of plumbing before it can be used effectively. It’s possible to use the default runtime WF implementation out of the box, but a fair bit of work is required to incorporate that into a real-world application.
