Since SharePoint 2007 was initially released back in early 2007, we’ve seen a significant move from 32-bit to 64-bit server architecture. In addition, we’ve seen a multitude of server and client upgrades as well as new development and design applications. SharePoint 2010 takes full advantage of the latest 64-bit architecture, including server, client, and applications. So moving to a SharePoint 2010 environment will mean factoring in plans around hardware, operating systems, and design and development tools.
