Working with Publishing Pages (Page Layouts)

Assuming you’ve activated both the site collection and site publishing Features then you also have access to publishing pages. Publishing pages, as mentioned earlier in this chapter, provide the maximum control for content positioning and display, including restrictions on fonts and HTML markup and are the best option for Internet sites. Publishing pages in SharePoint Server 2010 derive from page layouts, which are based on content types. In Chapter 15 we discuss page layout architecture and show you how to create new page layouts.
