Portal Site Connections and Navigation
SharePoint 2010 includes a portal site connection, which enables you to connect child site collections to a parent site collection and provide some basic navigation between site collections. For instance, one of the biggest design challenges when deploying SharePoint 2010 is in how you roll out your site collections. As discussed in Chapter 2, “SharePoint 2010 Architectural Overview,” the main reason for creating a new site collection is the amount of data and size of the content database.
