Style a Page with the Content Editor Web Part (CEWP)
The CEWP has been one of the more popular Web parts associated with SharePoint since SharePoint 2003. In SharePoint 2003 and SharePoint 2007, the Web part was predominantly used to enter rich text onto Web part pages, including home pages of team sites. Users could add tables and images, format text in the CEWP, and style pages via the browser. The CEWP is still prevalent in SharePoint 2010 sites, although, with the introduction of Wiki pages, the dependency on the CEWP as a rich text editor has lessened. The Web part still offers a means of adding rich text to Web part pages and also includes the option to add source code to pages, such as CSS and JavaScript.
