Editing Web Part Zones

SharePoint Designer includes several options when you’re editing Web part zones, including options to limit end user modification of any Web parts contained within a Web part zone, such as minimizing and closing Web parts on a page.

Note

Web part zones make it possible for users to add Web parts to pages via the Web interface. You should avoid simply adding text or images into a Web part zone while editing pages in SharePoint Designer because you are not able to edit the content via the Web interface.
