What About CSS3?
With the introduction of Internet Explorer 9 and Firefox 4.0, CSS3 (and HTML5) is steadily gaining browser support. However, CSS2.1 is typically viewed as the industry standard for designing websites and is supported by the majority of web browsers. CSS2.1 is also currently recommended by the Worldwide Web Consortium (W3C) as the “stable foundation for future extensions”; see “Cascading Style Sheets Standard Boasts Unprecedented Interoperability” at http://www.w3.org/2011/05/css-pr.html. This chapter, and chapters throughout this book, defaults to using CSS2.1; the default CSS schema in SharePoint Designer 2010 is CSS2.1.
