Operations

When connecting to an external data source using BCS, you can create a series of operations against the list. Operations are the methods available when interacting with the data sources and the External List. They include

• Read Item

• Read List Item

• New Create Item

• New Update

• New Delete

By using these operations you have access to all Create, Read, Update and Delete (CRUD) operations. At a minimum you need to create a Read Item and Read List Item to create an External List in SharePoint.
