Getting Technical: Anatomy of List Form Pages
This section discusses the physical foundation of SharePoint list forms and various components that go into each form.
Default list forms are a combination of form (ASP.NET, ASPX) pages, schema files, and Web controls. The physical location for list pages and list schema, including NewForm.aspx, EditForm.aspx, DisplayForm.aspx, schema.xml (list schema), is located on the Web front-end server at %SystemDrive%\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPATE\SiteTemplates\SPSSITES\LISTS\SITESLST\.
