Grouping and sorting functionality provides some of the key motivators for purchasing reporting tools. Although every enterprise DBMS has the ability to group and sort data, reports presented to business users usually have multiple levels of grouping inside of them, not to mention lots of pretty pictures, complex layouts, and graphs.
