Charts, gauges, and indicators all provide useful ways to visualize data, but there is one more option that you have in Reporting Services. You can combine reporting data with spatial data in a map and thereby overlay data visualizations such as color-code points or lines onto a map or even a custom polygon shape. By incorporating a spatial aspect to data visualization, you can provide a new way to deliver insights to your users. For example, you can create maps to monitor changes in sales activity in different locations in response to promotional campaigns or show where your customer base is growing.
