When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Extended Events
Extended Events were first introduced in SQL Server 2008 as a general event infrastructure to provide debugging and diagnostics capabilities for various purposes. The lack of UI support for Extended Events in SQL Server 2008 made for a steep learning curve of all the new concepts introduced by Extended Events for even simple tracing. Although Extended Events exposed a number of new events that were never available in SQL Trace, it was missing a large number of the trace events required for normal day-to-day usage.
In SQL Server 2012, Extended Events has been expanded significantly and now contains all the events formerly available in SQL Trace as well as a new UI implementation in SQL Server Management Studio. SQL Trace also has ...
