A strong commitment to monitoring is key for ensuring that a SQL Server 2008 system stays operational with as few unplanned interruptions as possible. When anomalies do occur, monitoring ensures that the issues are quickly identified and corrected. Without a strong commitment to monitoring, issues left unattended can quickly grow into major issues if not dealt with, eventually leading to a production outage.
