Database Basics

The following sections provide step-by-step instructions for managing a database.

Creating a Database

Before you can create tables and start to manage your data, you must create a database. Follow these steps to create a new database:

From the SQL Server Enterprise Manager, click the plus (+) sign next to the server that will contain the database.

Right-click the Databases folder. From the right-mouse menu, select the New Database menu option. The Database Properties dialog box appears (see Figure 8.4).
