Creating and Assigning the Distribution Database

Now that you have an overview of SQL Server replication, examine how to set up replication. First, examine how to create or specify the distribution database.

NOTE

Creating a distribution database requires sysadmin permission.

To create a distribution database, follow these steps using the SQL Enterprise Manager:

Select the server on which you want to install the distribution database.

From the SQL Enterprise Manager menu, select Tools and then select Replication. A drop-down menu appears (see Figure 27.3). Select the Configure Publishing, Subscribers, and Distribution option.
