What Is Snapshot Replication?
Snapshot replication takes a picture of the data (that is, copies all the data in the table as defined by the article) at a certain point in time and replicates the snapshot of data to subscribers. Snapshot replication can be thought of as a “table refresh” because all the information for the article is exported and loaded into the subscriber's table. With snapshot replication, no transactional information is kept or required. SQL Server 2000 gives you the flexibility to determine how the subscriber's tables are refreshed.
