In Chapter 28, you learned how to use the Publication and Subscription Wizard to create a transaction-based publication.
SQL Server 2000 allows you to use any existing publication as a template for a new publication. This feature can come in handy for configuring different sites that use vertical or horizontal filters or very large publications. After you create the publication as a template, you can modify or remove the articles as required.
You create a snapshot publication in the same manner, using the Publication and Subscription Wizard. Instead of walking through the Wizard again, you can examine the screens that differ in transactional replication and snapshot replication.
