Maintaining Partitions
Maintaining partitions can be a challenge. Over time, as your data changes and the values of the partition columns change, you may need to add, remove, or migrate partitions. One of the benefits of partitioning is that older partitions can be quickly deleted as necessary, partitions can be moved to slower storage, and partitions can be archived to other tables.
