Chapter 6. Step 1: Define the Project Scope
The scope of the data protection project will be defined in this step in order to align the goals of the project and the data protection capabilities of DPM with the business requirements for data protection, business continuity, and disaster recovery.
DPM can protect data for the following applications:
Virtual machines (VMs) that are running on Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V or Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1. Entire guest VMs can be protected.
Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and Exchange Server 2003 SP2. This protection applies to mailbox servers only.
Microsoft SQL Server 2008, SQL Server 2005, and SQL Server 2000 SP4. Protection is at the database level.
