Automating a Complex Application Installation
The automation mechanism for a complex application is often unique and supplied by the vendor. For the Office 2010 suite, Microsoft provides the Office Customization Tool, which generates an MSP file. The MSP file holds the customization information, and is specified on the command line when setup is launched to customize the installation.
To launch the Office Customization Wizard, complete the following steps:
1. Download the Office Customization Tool from http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=18968.
2. Run the downloaded file and when prompted, extract the files into the c:\Sources\Office2010x86 folder.
3. Map a drive to the software source directory.
