Choosing SQL Versions
Another issue is the edition of SQL Server to use. For Operations Manager, which leverages the power of SQL Server heavily, there can be serious performance impacts in choosing the wrong edition of SQL Server. The current version of SQL Server 2008 R2 has significant performance improvements over previous versions, especially when combined with Windows Server 2008 R2. The R2 versions of Windows Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 are really a better-together combination, which OpsMgr 2012 can really take advantage of.
