What to Tune in the SQL Server Management Pack
The SQL Server Management Pack has several areas to tune, specifically discoveries, thresholds, and alert enabling. The tuning points are as follows:
• Discover SQL 200x Agent Jobs Discovery
• Transaction Log Space Free (MB) Monitor
• SQL Server Service Broker Manager Has Shutdown Rule
• Discover Replication Components
• SQL 200x Replication Publications and Subscriptions Discovery Provider
• Job Failures
• Restart of DB Engine
• Full Text Configuration
By default, the following SQL agent job discovery is not enabled. This means that jobs will not be monitored for successful completion. Depending on the SQL version in the environment, the following discoveries need to be enabled:
